Solar PV Opportunities in Ontario
On September 24, 2009, the Ontario Government announced the MicroFIT Program, "microFIT", which is a streamlined, and a smaller version of the FIT program. MicroFIT is a program for small renewable generation of up to 10kW in size. The program also allows the lease of unused rooftop space to be used for PV Solar Energy Panel installations.

Who Benefits?
The microFIT Program is for those wanting to install a Photovoltaic Systems, 10kW or smaller in size. Great for homeowners or small businesses wishing to take advantage of the rebates and incentives being offered.
Price
The OPA will pay the 80.2 cents per kilowatt hour produced from a micro–fit project for a contract period of 20 years.

Agricultural 10kW Systems
Commercial 10kW Systems
Residential 10kW Systems- ♦ The generator must be renewable
- ♦ Have its own meter and capable of being connected to a local utility grid
- ♦ It must have the manufacturer’s total installed rated capacity, less than or equal 10kW
- ♦ It must not have an existing OPA contract
- ♦ Enter into a 20–year FIT contract with the OPA
- ♦ It can be an addition to an existing renewable generator by the same owner with the same technology, using the same connection point and metering, provided the combined facility is under the 10 kW ceiling.
- ♦ leasing your roof to a renewable energy developer
- ♦ owning or self-financing your own equipment and your own project
- ♦ revenues from unused roof areas
- ♦ income guaranteed for 20 years by Ontario Power Authority (OPA)
- ♦ your contribution to protecting the climate
- ♦ no tie–up of your own capital if leasing your roof to developer
- ♦ The generator must be renewable
- ♦ Have its own meter and capable of being connected to a local utility grid

- ♦ It must not have an existing OPA contract
- ♦ Enter into a 20–year FIT contract (40 years for qualifying waterpower projects) with the OPA
- ♦ It can be an addition to an existing renewable generator by the same owner with the same technology, using the same connection point and metering, provided the combined facility is greater than 10 kW ceiling.
